Okay blogging world, this is my first official blog post so bear with me. I just finished my freshman year at BYU, so I thought it would be fit to write about what I learned these past two semesters.
First, I learned that friends are everything. This past year, my roommates have become my best friends (shout out to Ems, Korihor, FatNat, Mads, JHunt, Mar, and BrynnyBoo). They are my sisters now. They lift me up at my darkest points, make me laugh when I want to cry, and are the best possible examples for me. I have learned that when everything may seem like it is falling apart, I can always count on my friends to be there and they make it okay.
Second, I learned that the freshman fifteen IS a real thing. I never believed it before, but it is definitely true. So all those who are about to go off to college, beware--especially of the muffins, cookies, and cakes that your fellow relief society members bake.
Third, I learned that I am addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper. Going to a college that doesn't allow caffeine, you tend to crave it even more. After months of going on late night caffeine runs off campus, I have found that it's hard to go a day without it.
Fourth, I learned that I am terrible at goodbyes. This year, I had to say bye to the guy I was dating, and one of my best friends because he's serving a two year mission in Germany. If I could have it my way, I would never say another goodbye again.
Fifth, I learned that life is much better when you take risks. If you know me, you know that I like to live in my own little comfort zone. I don't like change. I get scared easily. And I am shy. College has taught me that "YOLOING" it sometimes is good. What's life without a little adventure, right?

Life is full of learning experiences. I had an amazing freshman year, full of ups and downs. I am so grateful for everything I have learned these past two semesters.
